After 11 years of working in the often insane world that is the games industry, I’ve got to the point where I almost don’t like to tell people what I do for a living anymore. For the first 6 months I was still on a high, still got a buzz from telling people how “cool” my job was. It didn’t take long for that to be replaced with a deep-seated loathing for the seemingly innocent question “What do you do for a living?”.
Answering this question honestly invariably leads to one of three responses:
- Can you get me free games?
- I / my partner / my child has a great idea for a game, can you make it?
- How do I get a job playing games all day?
